Minimatrix: New Single-Work Exhibitions for BAM/PFA Matrix Program

This fall the MATRIX Program for Contemporary Art at the University of California, Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive will launch an exciting new "mini" series of exhibitions. miniMATRIX will comprise four small-scale, single-work exhibitions curated by three guest curators and Heidi Zuckerman Jacobson, Phyllis Wattis MATRIX Curator. All four exhibitions have as their theme the ephemeral and temporary, and will be installed in non-traditional spaces inside and outside the museum.

The first miniMATRIX exhibition is an installation in the museum garden by Tony Feher, curated by Adrienne Gagnon, MATRIX Curatorial Assistant. The second exhibition, curated by Kevin E. Consey, Director, BAM/PFA, features a drawing by Dean Smith that will be suspended in the museum's atrium. Nicholas Baume, Emily Hall Tremaine Curator of Contemporary Art at the Wadsworth Atheneum and curator of the MATRIX Program there, has invited Catherine Sullivan to do a performance work at BAM/PFA for the third miniMATRIX exhibition. Heidi Zuckerman Jacobson will present a ignited sculpture/event by Cerith Wyn Evans for the fourth and final exhibition in this miniMATRIX series.
