  BAM/PFA’s Development Staff unveiled its signature snack at the 2009 Fall Celebration. It’s a buttery, cheesy, crunchy thing made by our friends at Strada. While it can’t compete with the art, our members and friends sure seemed to like it. “It tastes like an elegant version of Pepperidge Farms Goldfish,” remarked a hip blonde in a vintage jacket (you know who you are!). Your next chance to munch on our signature snack is at our Spring Fling, March 16, 2010…we’ll be celebrating our James Castle and William T. Wiley exhibitions, among others.

  The Abu Ghraib Series—56 paintings and drawings—is one of BAM/PFA’s largest gifts to its permanent collection.

  Botero was asked during his visit to BAM/PFA why American artists have been so silent in creating work responding to Iraq. He said it was likely because American art tends to be more conceptual in nature.

  The Fall Celebration was a chance for members to preview the anticipated new fall exhibitions, including Ari Marcopoulos: Within Arm’s Reach.

  Within Arm’s Reach is a mid-career survey of the Sonoma-based photographer Ari Marcopoulos’s work and includes photographs, Xerox transfers, ‘zines, and videos by the artist.

  Professional skateboarder Keith Hufnagel (plaid shirt) collaborated with Ari Marcopoulos to produce an artist-designed exhibition T-shirt on his Huf label. The guy pictured on the bike is artist Barry McGee…check out the t-shirt.
