The Korean composer Isang Yun uniquely synthesized Western classical and avant-garde music with Eastern traditions. His life story is equally distinctive. Today he is claimed by Germany, where he lived in exile; South Korea, where he was born and later tried as a traitor; and North Korea, which he visited in his efforts to reunite his country. In this illuminating documentary, musicians on both sides of the 49th Parallel discuss his music and heritage. For Yun, "Where there is pain, where there is injustice, I want to have my say through my music."
