Gallery Talk with Artist Laurie Reid
Artist Laurie Reid shares thoughts about landscape and seascape, focusing on paintings by Charles François Daubigny and James Ensor on view in Berkeley Eye. She explores notions of vast outdoor space and its relationship to intimate personal space, both in the context of these two nineteenth-century works as well as in current social media practices.
Reid teaches at the California College of the Arts and the San Francisco Art Institute. She has had recent shows at Morgan Lehman Gallery, New York, and Et Al. and Alterspace in San Francisco. Her work is held in the collections of BAMPFA, SFMOMA, the de Young Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art, New York and the National Gallery, Washington, DC.
